PreSchool/PreK Elegibility
Pre-K Eligibility Guidelines
To be eligible for the Pre-K program, your child must be 4 years of age as of September 1 of the current school year AND must meet one of the requirements below.
Criteria 1: unable to speak and comprehend the English language (LEP); OR
Criteria 2: be identified as Educationally Disadvantaged (eligible to participate in the National Free or Reduced-Price Lunch Program); OR
Criteria 3: be homeless; OR
Criteria 4: be the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority; OR
Criteria 5: be the child of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty; OR
Criteria 6: have ever been in the conservatorship of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS-foster care) following an adversary hearing; OR
Criteria 7: Is the child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award as: a peace officer under section 3106.002 Government Code, firefighter under Section 3106.004 Government Code, or emergency medical first responder under Section 3106.004 Government Code. In order to be eligible under this criteria, parent/guardian must have been awarded the Star of Texas Award between 2004 and the current year.
Families who pre-qualify based on the educationally disadvantaged criteria will be subject to a final review after July 1st to ensure compliance with the states income guidelines. Parents will be asked to return to the school and re-submit income verification documents, such as a pay stub, unemployment documentation, letter from employer or TANF(Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)/SNAP(Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) approval letter. The Pre-K Eligibility & Documentation Checklist must be filled out with the attached documentation. Please sign below to indicate that you have read and understand the procedures for the application and admission into the Ysleta Independent School District Pre-K Program. I understand that a person commits an offense if he/she makes, presents, or uses any record, document or device with knowledge of its falsity and with the intent that it be taken as a genuine record. In addition to the penalty provided by Section 37.10 (Penal Code), a person who knowingly falsifies records is subject to the maximum tuition the district may charge or the amount the district has budgeted for each student.
